Attack chopper teams

Postby Kalmazh » Fri Mar 08, 2013 4:23 pm

Lately I've seen this scenario go down lots in both the old and the AK server: Two guys get into an attack chopper. Pilot asks the gunner to jump out since he has a friend he's flying with. Gunner also has a friend he's flying with. Now they both just sit in the chopper and tell the other to get out or the pilot circles around in base or tries to get the gunner out by crashing the chopper a bit. Anyways this happens a lot and the chopper isn't doing any good if it isn't in the battlefield. So I'm proposing and asking you what you think if'd we implement a rule that the pilot can choose his gunner to avoid this crap?

No gameplay hindering!
Results in kick or ban if you don't listen to the warnings!
Explanation gameplay hindering: Hindering the gameplay would be an action a player take to prevent others to play the game how it's ment to be.
This could be as an example flying and crashing a full chopper out side of the boundaries.

Yeh but it's not only that, they just might be still and just wait for the other to get out.

If u dont leave they crush it put into water or other shit...this just ruin this game

Yes that's exactly why the pilot should choose his gunner. It's crap to see 4-6 guys waiting for a chopper and then see the chopper just stand in base when people don't have friends to fly with. And I think a chopper duo who communicate are more efficient to the team then just couple randoms in one. Ofc say you are the pilot and some gunner gets in and asks you to leave just take of and fly. And usually people ask nicely. Atleast I do. And if the pilot asks to fly with a friend I get out and let them fly.

I think that there is no problem to just camp for chopper. Just wait and if there are some noobs who cant fly they will crash in few sec propably. So just wait click fast and ur in. If chopper is stilll on for long time...well u can be sure that there are good ppl inside. I think that in game there shouldnt be "better" ppl u know someone who is "higher" all shit for all folks. For me stealing vehi is also a crapy idea but what can i say? Im only a trial dude ;]

The point of this is to prevent chopper staying in base without taking of with two people inside wanting their friend in. It's not about me getting in the chopper or not :D

In my opinnion, you ask 'em nicely to move off the chopper, if they don't, you fly. If you don't fly and start ramming the chopper around or other similiar bullshit, you die for game play hindering.

This. You should always respect people who are on TS or some other communication system if you're playing alone, chances are they will do much better in the chopper and your team will benefit. I personally hop out even from the pilot seat if I see two friends trying to get in it together and I'm alone.
However, there should not be any restrictions whether or not you're allowed to gun your team's vehicles, no matter who is flying. None in particular owns the chopper. I'm glad there's not what we called "redlining" in the BF2 days. As a pilot, you were able to hover over the map border so that your gunner would be on the wrong side of the border to get the 10 sec suicide and the pilot could just chill back there on the right side of the map.
Also, you can do very well with complete random players too. <- coming from BF2 gunner with ~30k chopper kills, mostly with random/half random pilots.

I think we need pilots who doesn't give a fu. I mean if he has a friend and he wants you to get out, if you don't want to get out just fly it, the gunner will either fly with you or he'll get out, if he gets out you can get a new gunner from the ground, if he stays on the chopper and you have a gunner. If he doesn't shoot, well, you can report him for holding the gunner spot or stop being so stubborn. (omg admin do your job  )
Or you could avoid all this crap and get out of the chopper to make room (don't be a dick, just get out of the choppa) Personally I'd make room, since my chopper skills aren't worth a damn. 8O
